Newbuilding site supervision
Full site management from the first steel cut to delivery: hull and outfitting inspections, welding and coating surveys, machinery installation, commissioning and the yard's quality system.
Newbuilding supervision and marine engineering consultancy
Seahorse Marine Engineering Consultants supervises the construction of tankers, gas carriers and bulk carriers at shipyards in China. We represent owners on site from steel cutting to delivery, so the vessel you take over is the vessel you contracted for.
We provide the owner's site team. Our supervisors sit in the yard every day, attend inspections and tests, review the drawings, and keep the owner informed with clear, factual reporting.
Full site management from the first steel cut to delivery: hull and outfitting inspections, welding and coating surveys, machinery installation, commissioning and the yard's quality system.
Systematic review of yard and maker drawings against the specification, class rules and flag requirements, with comment sheets tracked to close-out.
Structured trial programmes, attendance at dock and sea trials, punch list management and preparation of the delivery documentation and crew familiarisation package.
Milestone planning, progress monitoring, weekly and monthly owner reports, and management of the interface between owner, yard, class and makers.
Specification review before contract signing, yard assessment visits, pre-purchase and condition inspections, and independent engineering advice.
Chemical and product tankers, including stainless steel cargo systems; LPG and LEG carriers; crude oil tankers up to VLCC size; and bulk carriers.
Seahorse MEC was founded by Martin Adams, a Chief Engineer with more than twenty years at sea before moving ashore into newbuilding supervision. He has worked in newbuilding in China since 1999, leading owner's site teams at shipyards from Shanghai to Xiamen and delivering gas carriers, chemical tankers, crude carriers and bulk carriers.
That background matters. A supervisor who has run the machinery at sea knows which details cause trouble five years after delivery, and insists that they are put right while the ship is still in the yard.
Principal Site Manager for a series of six 41,000 DWT chemical and oil tankers under construction at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry for German Tanker Shipping, Bremen. Four vessels have been delivered, the fifth has completed sea trials and the sixth is in the final stages of build.
The full reference list is below. Vessel names and IMO numbers are available on request.
